Ansley Grace Schulte, MD, FAAP is a board certified pediatrician based in Pennsylvania.
My first exposure to medicine began during college in New York City as a volunteer doula, a professional labor and postpartum support partner. While getting to know the laboring mothers I worked with, I became intimately acquainted with the overwhelming and often disempowering introduction to motherhood that has become standard in our current culture. Experiences with healthcare access and witnessed disparities instilled in me a passion for health equity that would become the foundation of my career.
After college, I returned to my home state of Florida to attend the University of Florida College of Medicine where I co-founded a monthly LGBT specialty night at the free student run Equal Access Clinic. I was awarded an academic leadership scholarship and LGBT Community Impact Award for this work.
Throughout my training, I have also had a special interest in child welfare and youth mental health. While in training at NewYork-Presbyterian, Columbia University Medical Center I focused my work on quality improvement and best practices in cases of child abuse. After graduation, my passion for mental health lead me to my current position as Pediatric Medical Director for Pennsylvania Residential Programs at KidsPeace, an organization dedicated to acute and long term mental health treatment and crisis intervention. My current areas of professional interest include epigenetics, toxic stress, and resilience.
In my spare time, I enjoy making handcrafted beaded jewelry, collecting stickers, and reading anything I can get my hands on.
